Frequently Asked Questions

In-Person Events (Field Day and Office Color War)

WHAT CITIES/STATES DO YOU OFFER EVENTS IN?

We have run events in cities across the U.S. including New York, Los Angeles, Phoenix, Miami, Washington D.C., Charlotte, Nashville, Atlanta, Chicago, Seattle, and others. We have a network of coaches across the country and can also travel long distances to meet our clients, so don’t hesitate to reach out if you’re not based in one of the cities above!

WHAT VENUE(S) DO YOU HOST AT?

We select locations that are convenient for our clients. For outdoor field days, we’ll choose a park and secure a permit close to you. For indoor events, we can rent third-party venues or host at your office/property.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT WITH A THROWBACK FIELD DAY OR OFFICE COLOR WAR EVENT?

We work with our clients leading up to the event to craft an itinerary that your group will love. We have dozens of activities that consist of everything, from purely mental challenges to intense physical activity, and everything in between. We’ll make sure your entire group will have a blast no matter their age, abilities or preferred fitness level!

WHAT DOES THE INTENSITY OF AN AVERAGE EVENT LOOK LIKE?

On a scale of 1-10 with 1 being totally non-physical and 10 being a challenging workout class, most clients choose between a 4 and 5. At this level, there are a couple of games that will allow some of your teammates to show off their athleticism, but most will be very mild in terms of physical activity, and some are purely mental challenges.

WHAT GAMES WILL WE PLAY?

Expect a variety! Some you may recognize for your childhood. Some are trivia-based. Some are inspired by TV game shows. Others are our own creations. Within a typical event, we lead the group through 5-8 games. Contact us to learn more about our games!

HOW LONG ARE THE EVENTS?

We recommend 90 minutes but are flexible with the duration.

BESIDES THE GAMES, WHAT ELSE DO THE EVENTS INCLUDE?

We will also provide colored bandanas to split up the teams into colored groups that everyone can keep.

WHAT SHOULD I TELL PEOPLE TO WEAR OR BRING?

We recommend wearing clothes and shoes you are comfortable moving around in and that are weather appropriate. No need to go full spandex! Besides that we recommend a water bottle and a positive attitude.

HOW MANY PEOPLE CAN ATTEND?

We recommend a minimum of 6 and have hosted groups of all sizes, even exceeding 400 participants.

DO YOU HOST BIRTHDAY PARTIES, BACHELOR/BACHELORETTES, AND OTHER NON-CORPORATE EVENTS?

Absolutely!

Virtual Events (Virtual Recess)

WHAT CAN I EXPECT WITH A THROWBACK VIRTUAL RECESS?

We’ll start with an unofficial warm-up activity that we’ll play as people are joining the session. Once we officially begin, we’ll divide the group into teams. Teams will compete against each other in a series of games (usually 3). We’ll score each to ultimately determine an overall Virtual Recess winner.

WHAT GAMES WILL WE PLAY?

We have tons of different game options with many inspired by TV game shows and some being our own creations. Most of our Virtual Recesses are totally non-physical with players remaining in their chairs the entire time. But we have some fun and creative ways to get people up and moving and your group would like to be more active. Our version of scavenger hunt is a favorite among those wanting to be mobile.

WHAT SOFTWARE DO WE NEED FOR AN EVENT?

Nothing. We host our events via Zoom, but you don’t need your own account to join the fun.

HOW MANY PEOPLE CAN ATTEND?

We recommend a minimum of 6 and a maximum of 200. We can accommodate these large group sizes by using breakout rooms where each team is placed in their own Zoom room that is officiated/coached by a designated Throwback coach. This allows for greater individual participation and team intimacy while maintaining the competitive vibe of facing off against other teams in real-time. We can run events with over 200 competitors but recommend breaking these very large groups into multiple sessions.

HOW LONG ARE VIRTUAL RECESS EVENTS?

Typically 60 minutes but are flexible with the duration.
